Christian sympathy in a time of sudden death
August 29, 2010
Dear ___ and Family,
It is with the deepest sympathy I write to you regarding your recent, most tragic loss. As a father myself, I can only imagine the extent of your grief.
As a Christian, I can find peace in all circumstances as ordered of God. In reflex to the power of death is the mercy of God in that, as I understand it, your son must not have suffered an instant.
There is One that entirely knows your grief and is able to share in it. Isaiah says as to the Lord Jesus Christ that He is “a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief … Surely he hath borne our griefs and carried our sorrows”. Pray to Him.
We here are all praying for you in this time of sorrow and mourning. We were away on vacation last week – ____ and ___ are still away in Hawaii on their 35th wedding anniversary; however, I am sure ____ will contact you when he returns.
Your friend,
